Charles Powell's military Service
Territorial Army
It is not clear when my father joined the TA. We are told that his father insisted in his sons joining the TA as a possible avoidance technique to them being drafted - although this sounds farcical now. I Do have a TA Attestation of Four Years service dated August 1939. But that would suggest service from his 14th birthday. Perhaps this included being a Cadet.
