POW Papers

First report of missing in action.  Not much detail

Update.  No more detail but telling of what to do

Dear Mum, I hope you have already learned that I am safe as POW in Germany. I am in good health now, my jaw gave me a little trouble. I had a bullet skim along the bone doing no damage. A few days XXdid notXX were long enough to right that. I am treated quite well. Do not worry. Keep cheery, love to all Charles."

Nov 12,
Dear Mum,
I have the good fortune to be writing again, seven days ago was my last opportunity.  Before that, several weeks.  My state of health and outlook on life in general is cheery.  This time last year I was a long way from home but managed to be on leave for Christmas day.  I wonder if Jim will manage it this year.
Has Fred startled anyone with cycle races yet, or is that just a summertime job.  I hope you are getting my letters.  I've not had any from you yet.  I think I shall have to wait sime time yet.
Does Babs remember telling me my hair was very long, well its not been cut yet.  I think it was cut about the end of July.
Well keep all at home happy and healthy and give all my love.  I must say cheerio and God speed  my return.

Your ever loving

Charles
