1939.9.25 Letter

Dear Mum

We have arrived here alright.  We are billeted in a drill hall with billiard tables, darts, bar and canteen.  We also have a wireless and are not five minutes walk from the centre of town.

So you can see we are much better off than at camp.  We shall be alright here.  Every one is delighted.  There are only 30 of us here.  We did not go to Ross after all and we are glad we are much better off here.

We've got to guard a bridge or viaduct or some such thing like that.  Well I'll say goodbye now and write a letter when we  know a bit more about things.
